THE LIFEBLOOD OF ALL SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES
First of all, let me advise you to search out a business modelthat will deliver steady and repeat business. It is the onething --- above all others --- that will assure that yourcompany can survive the test of time.

HOME-BASED MAIL ORDER:Home-based mail order is a good example of how one can quicklygrow a home business income. Mail order is a low cost start-upbusiness that can be launched for around $100 USD.
With proper planning, your home-based mail order business willnot require up-front inventory purchases. In the mail orderbusiness, it is not uncommon to rely upon drop-shippers forproduct fulfillment services.
By utilizing drop-shippers, we can sell the products, collectthe money and then purchase the products from the wholesaleoutlet. The wholesale outlet will then put a return address foryour company on the product packaging and deliver the productdirectly to your customer.
Your primary expense in the mail-order business is advertising.Classified advertising tends to be a relatively inexpensive formof advertising with thousands of outlets available to the smallbusiness owner.

WHOLESALE BUSINESS:Buy low --- sell high. You can acquire high quality,top-of-the-line merchandise for a fraction of the retail cost.

AUCTIONS:Auctions can be an excellent source for buying cheap and sellinghigh. Both government auctions and Internet auctions can lead tosome excellent profit opportunities. Auctions are an excellenttool for both acquiring and selling merchandise.

MAKE AND SELL YOUR CRAFTS:Crafts are a hot seller at country fairs, swap meets or anyplacewhere people gather. Make your own crafts and sell them for atidy profit!

SELLING INFORMATION:Selling information by mail is another good example of aninexpensive home based business start-up. One can gain theresale rights to information for usually about $50 USD. Othercosts will include printer cartridges, paper and postage. Thereare plenty of free classifieds sites on the Internet, in whichto successfully advertise your information.
WRITE INFORMATIONAL BOOKLETS:Write and publish your own informational booklets; sell them ata high price! All you need is a little know-how, a printer, paper and stamps. This is a GREAT home business idea! You canalso sell the resale rights to others, for extra profits. Inthis age of the Internet, you may also take advantage of thefact that selling information is one of the most profitableendeavors one can pursue online.

OFFICE SERVICES:Offer office services for hire in your local paper. You`ll besurprised at the amount of regular office business that can begleaned from one little classified ad. Word processing, typing, accounting, data entry, proofreading, transcription, promotionalletters and newsletters. All these tasks can be accomplishedright from your own home office.

AVON REPRESENTATIVE:Yes, Avon`s been around for eternity, hasn`t it? Then it`s notsuch a bad prospect as a home based business, is it? I once knewa woman who did so much business as an Avon rep. that she hadpeople calling her and knocking at her door wanting to orderproducts at all hours of the day and night! Once you are anestablished Avon representative, you, too, will turn a goodprofit.

CONCLUSION:On your search for the ideal home based business, try not to getcaught up in any scams that will run off with your money. Thereare thousands of scam artists out there just waiting for thenext sucker to come along. Remember, if it sounds too good to betrue, then it probably is. Just use your good judgement andinvest wisely in proven methods of earning extra income.

Social Bookmarking? What Is That?

Social bookmarking is a hot topic at the moment, but what exactly is it? Well social bookmarking is where the internet is categorized by humans. Normal search engines send out robots to search the internet and split it up into categories, these robots do an ok job, but they’re not human.

Social bookmarking is where humans (not machines pretending to be humans) actually search the internet and share a list of their favorite sites with others using services like Squidoo, Google Bookmarks, Yahoo My Web, and many others.

The links generated by social networks are of a much higher quality because the person is able to assess each site individually much better than search engines. Plus social networking can make it much more difficult for webmasters to manipulate what the search engines actually think about them.

Social bookmarking is a wonderful way of using the internet, by searching for people that have interests similar to your own you can quickly and easily find a list of sites that may be of interest to you. The sites in their list are more likely to be interesting to you since the person shares the same interests as you, you should be able to find hundreds of sites that are interesting to you.

When social bookmarking is used properly it can be a great traffic generating tool, not to mention it’s free. By using social bookmarking it is possible for many webmasters and bloggers to get much more traffic.

If you do plan on starting a blog, you must update it on a regular basis. Frequent updates to your blog will encourage the web spiders to visit it and so drive more traffic to your site, and anyway you surely want something new for your subscribers to read!

The best way to get that traffic to your site is by updating your site and the links on the social bookmarking site on a daily basis. In order to be successful doing business on the internet you must make connections, the internet has the possibility of a virtually unlimited population to those with the right connections.

By increasing the back links from sites considered important by search engines this will only do your site good! This will increase your traffic, and your page rank. Starting the process is often the most difficult; it will start to snowball after no time but you must keep after your goals. Make it happen!!

Boost Traffic With Web 2.0 Marketing

Now we’re going to look into boosting the traffic to your website using web 2.0, but before we get that far it’s important to understand exactly what web 2.0 is. It can be difficult to get a clear definition as to what web 2.0 actually means, it has many different features and many of these can be used to get traffic to your website.

This phenomenon basically focuses on an interactive web, a community shares information and details with other users, while these other users are also able to comment on the information. If your website is about a unique area then you could well end up receiving thousands of hits through using these forms of marketing.

People like to see exciting sites, and these certainly aren’t sites that contain lots of just plain boring text. For your site to be exciting it must contain photos, audio and video. People like to be able to interact with the site.

If you look at the global top 500 websites on Alexa.com then you will see that most of them are actually community websites, people visit these in their thousands every single day! If you think about it and develop a unique topic then you can get a lot of traffic in a very short period of time. You need to think about text, photos, audio and of course video.

If you can write articles then you can submit them to a number of different places, like technorati for example. Members will be able to read your articles, if they think it is good then they can vote good, if it’s bad then they will vote bad. Depending on how many people think it is good your article will become a hot topic and hopefully read by thousands of people. By increasing interest in your topic, hopefully people will also follow the links back to your website.

If you’re good at creating art then you can use this to your advantage too! No matter whether you are good at taking photos, sketching or creating digital art you can submit these to flickr.com this will we seen by thousands of people that will appreciate it for what it is. If this is done properly it can get a lot of new business to your site, and best of all this method is free. It can get thousands of visitors to your site, and it doesn’t cost a dime.

If you have created a series of videos that is funny, educational or both then you can submit this to one of the video exchanges such as youtube.com or Google video. Thousands upon thousands of people will view your video and make comments about it; this could make you a very famous camera man in just a few hours!

So web 2.0 is all about being creative, the more creative you can be the more traffic you stand to gain. With a little bit of hard work you can give your internet traffic a much needed boost.

Would you like to make money online, but don't know
where to begin? Here's 3 easy steps that really work:
http://www.pluginprofitsite.com/main-20160
-------------------------------------------------------

1. Give people a free subscription to your e-zine.
Almost everyone is publishing a e-zine nowadays
so it's important to give something extra with the
free subscription. You could offer a free gift or
advertising when people subscribe.

2. Provide your visitors with free content. Your
content will be more attractive to your visitors if
it's up-to-date or original. You could also offer
people the option to reprint the content in their
e-zine or web site.

3. Offer a free online directory. The directory
could be full of interesting ebooks, e-zines, web
sites etc. If people find your directory to be a
valuable resource they will visit it over and over.

4. Give your visitors a free ebook. You could
also include your own ad in the ebook and allow
other people to give it away. If you don't want to
take the time to write one, you could ask other
writers permission to use their articles.

5. Hold free online classes or seminars. They
could be held in your web site's chat room. The
idea of "live" information will definitely entice
people to visit your web site. You will become
known as an expert on the topic.

6. Give visitors a free entry into your contest or
sweepstakes. The prizes should be something of
interest or value to your visitors. Most people
who enter will continually revisit your web site to
get the results.

7. Let visitors download free software. It could
be freeware, shareware, demos etc. You could
even turn part of your site into a free software
directory. If you created the software, include
your ad inside and let other people give it away.

8. Offer free online services or utilities from your
web site. They could be search engine submitting,
copy writing proofreading etc. The service or
utility should be helpful to your target audience.

9. Give free consulting to people who visit your
web site. You could offer your knowledge via
e-mail or by telephone. People will consider this
a huge value because consulting fees can be very
expensive.

10. Give your visitors a free membership to your
online club. People want to belong to something,
why not your online club. You could also give
away a free e-zine for club members only.

Is the .Com Overrated?

When it comes to domain name extensions, most people are familiar with .com. Because of this the average webmaster is scrambling to get the perfect .com domain name. Some may even forgo registering a potential goldmine of a domain name in favor of getting a less popular .com. Yet, there are dozens of other domain names available, some of which have gained popularity despite not being a .com. How can a webmaster determine if their site is going to be in such a league without the traditional .com? This article will explain how.

First, a webmaster needs to evaluate the purpose of their website. If their website is designed to simply direct people to an affiliate page, then it won't really matter what extension it has, since they are only going to visit it once anyway. However, if a website is designed for repeat visits, people may not care about the site not having a .com. Sites that contain updated information, games and message boards tend to be the type of sites that get repeat visitors.

Secondly, webmasters need to consider the memorable nature of their domain name. If a webmaster is able to create a witty domain name hack, such as del.icio.us, and their content is good, it may not matter that they don't have a .com. A good site that can allow a webmaster to register unconventional domain name extensions is New.net. This site offers extensions such as .love and .free. By looking at these extensions, webmasters can start pondering ideas for their own domain name hacks. If they need help, they can always type the word or letters used in the extension in a keyword analyzer or search engine.

Thirdly, webmasters need to determine whether or not a domain name with an unconventional extension will rank higher in search engines than a domain name with a traditional one. In fact, consider the above-mentioned example of del.icio.us. Honestly, how many people are typing such a domain name in their browser? While it is certainly memorable, all of the periods associated with it are annoying. Yet, the site still has a high search engine ranking, which is probably how it's getting its traffic.

Surfers visit it from the search engine, bookmark it and never again have to be associated with its unique URL. This is the type of success a webmaster wants to emulate. Indeed, if a domain name is keyword-rich and memorable, webmasters need to definitely go for whatever extension is available for it.

Of course, this is not to say that a person must be limited to just domain name. If they want to still use .coms after using other extensions they can. In fact, the more domain names that point to a site, the more likely a search engine bot will index it higher. So, ultimately, with this strategy, webmasters will have two domain names they can work with. They can use the one with the unconventional domain name in search engine marketing in hopes of getting indexed high, while the other one can be used in printed media, where people are more likely to be concerned with the type of URL they are entering in their browser.

Know What A Wiki Timer Is?

Wiki Timer? What the hell is that? Read on to get a hint...

The internet is changing so rapidly it’s changing how everyone operates. Not that long ago digital calendars and diaries were just that, copies of conventional diaries and calendars. This made them very confusing to use and actually led to few people using them. Nothing seemed a worthwhile replacement for a physical reminder system like post it notes!

Thanks to new inventions in the technology that makes web 2.0 possible there may be many different solutions. The internet is now a really exciting place to be.

There are many different tools available for planning and scheduling our lives, however most people waste around 30% of their time on things like scheduling appointments. If you have a receptionist like mine then you will no doubt spend much longer than this, because every time I ask her to do something she throws it straight back at me! Maybe I need a new receptionist.

Without email and cell phones it would be impossible to schedule our lives at all. Using your computer you can look when you are free, choose a time slot, send out email invitations, and then phone up whoever hasn’t replied. One of the hardest parts about organizing a meeting is trying to find a time slot which is suitable for everyone.

There are many online services like Yahoo calendar, Google calendar, and many others all of which can help you to do this horrible task. Everyone is able to check this schedule without you having to remind people by email. There are even some calendars that allow multiple people to edit them.

If you’re a business then why not consider using these online tools to your advantage? Not only can you use them yourself, but there are a number of companies on the internet offering an unbranded system that you could use with your system brand. If you get hits to this then people will no doubt remember your brand name.

So anyway, many of the online calendars and scheduling tools are not fantastic tools. There is however one new tool that seems to be getting things right, Wiki Timer. Wiki Timer focuses on it being difficult to schedule a time that everyone can get to. It’s got a built in problem solver that uses the information you input and actually schedules the appointment for you, Wiki Timer then communicates with the invited people to work out a compromise.

Working out a meeting time can be stressful at the best of times, but Wiki Timer takes all of the stress about this, once the automatic scheduler has scheduled the meeting you will be told. It’s like having your own receptionist, although much better than mine!

This seems to be a step in the right direction for internet applications; the uses for these are endless. If you’re a freelancer then such a tool is very useful for anybody that wants to plan that annoying family reunion. However the problem is that not everybody uses the internet, and so it can’t completely cut out the stress!

10 Killer Ways To Multiply Your Sales

Anyone for better sales? You better have a look here...

1. When you make your first sale, follow-up with the
customer. You could follow-up with a "thank you"
email and include an advertisement for other products
you sell. You could follow-up every few months.

2. You could upsell to your customers. When they're
at your order page, tell them about a few extra related
products you have for sale. They could just add it to
their original order.

3. Tell your customers if they refer four customers to
your web site, they will receive a full rebate of their
purchase price. This will turn one sale into three sales.

4. When you sell a product, give your customers the
option of joining an affiliate program so they can make
commissions selling your product. This will multiply
the sale you just made.

5. Sell the reprint/reproduction rights to your products.
You could include an ad on or with the product for
other products you sell. You could make sales for the
reproduction rights and sales on the back end product.

6. You could cross promote your product with other
businesses' products in a package deal. You can
include an ad or flyer for other products you sell and
have other businesses selling for you.

7. When you ship out or deliver your product, include
a coupon for other related products you sell in the
package. This will attract them to buy more products
from you.

8. Send your customers a catalog of add-on products
for the original product they purchased. This could be
upgrades, special services, attachments, etc. If they
enjoy your product they will buy the extra add-ons.

9. Sell gift certificates for your products. You'll make
sales from the purchase of the gift certificate, when
the recipient cashes it in. They could also buy other
items from your web site.

10. Send your customers free products with their
product package. The freebies should have your ad
printed on them. It could be bumper stickers, ball
caps, t-shirts etc. This will allow other people to see
your ad and order.

The Enormous Power of Past Success

Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-20160

I was checking my voice mail yesterday and received a message
that was short and sweet. It said: "My name is Ken Shapiro. I'm
the writer, director, producer and star of the motion picture
'The Groove Tube'. Please call me back at ..."

Interesting. The writer, director, producer and star of a motion
picture?

My curiosity was aroused so I went to Google and looked up "The
Groove Tube". I discovered that Ken Shapiro was indeed all of
the things he said he was and that Chevy Chase, a very famous
American actor, had is debut film appearance in the movie. My
mind determined that Ken Shapiro was a force to be reckoned with
so I gave him a call.

It turns out that Ken found me online and was seeking some
guidance on how to promote his new project at
http://www.BedBooks.net. "Bed Books" is a very interesting
innovation and I must admit that I've often wanted to lay on my
side in bed and read a book, but that's not a very comfortable
thing to do. Thus, Ken's unique idea and business has the
potential to really take off.

In our brief conversation, we exchanged pleasantries and I gave
Ken a few tips on getting publicity for his site. He's obviously
a guy who takes action on his ideas so I expect that he'll take
the information I gave him and put it into motion immediately. If
so, you'll be hearing a lot more about Ken and BedBooks.net in
the near future. In exchange for my time and advice, Ken said he
is sending me a "Bed Book" to try out.

What's interesting about my conversation with Ken is my
motivation for having it in the first place. Considering that I
receive an overwhelming amount of voice mails every single day
and that I'm rarely able to call anyone back on the phone
personally, why did I choose to pick up the phone and call Ken on
my dime?

The answer is because Ken had established that he was already
successful. Because of the accomplishment of making "The Groove
Tube" movie in which Chevy Chase appeared back in 1972 I
determined that calling Ken would be, at the very least,
interesting. I also sensed that there could be the possibility
for me to benefit in some way because I perceived Ken to be
powerful and influential.

I was right. Ken is powerful. He's a doer. He makes things
happen and I respect him for that. In this world, it's the
dreamers that take action and persist until they succeed that get
my attention. That's why I called Ken and that's also why he
was able to benefit from a free consultation with me. In that
discussion, I gave Ken some very specific advice for marketing
his website that has the potential to bring him all the business
he can handle.

The point to take home is that Ken's previous success in the
movie business made it a lot easier for him to get the
information and resources he needs to succeed in his new venture.
In other words, past success has power.

When I first started my Internet business it was not easy. In
fact, it was downright difficult. I spent thousands of dollars on
credit trying to learn the game and acquire the tools I needed to
build my business. Everything was expensive and the people who I
thought could help me grow my business the most wouldn't give me
the time of day. I was a nobody in this world.

However, I was persistent and by leveraging my financial and
creative resources I was finally able to make my first sale
online. Once that occurred, I simply focused on what I did right
and did more of it. My sales continued to grow and I was becoming
successful.

From those initial small successes, I was able to continue
building my knowledge. I realized that once I had knowledge, I
could share it. By sharing my knowledge with others, I was able
to become an expert. As an expert, people were attracted to me.
Through that attraction, I was able to sell more goods and
services. I was becoming *very* successful.

Then other experts got attracted to me. They started giving me
their products and services for free. They were also open to the
possibility of working together. The same products and services
that I could barely afford in the beginning of my career and the
same people who wouldn't give me the time of day before, were
now becoming as freely available to me as oxygen itself.

Why? The answer is simple. I was already successful.

Is it easier for the rich to get richer? Absolutely. Is it easier
for successful people to become more successful? Definitely. The
momentum has already been established. Money attracts more money
and success attracts greater success.

Before you get cynical, first consider the fact that most of the
rich and successful people in this world started with nothing but
their ideas and enthusiasm. They were able to use that energy and
put it into motion to create their own success.

In most cases, the path they traveled was riddled with moments of
confusion, struggle and failure. But they persisted and with each
small success their path got easier and easier to travel until
they eventually paved it and turned that path into a "success
super-highway" that now allows them to travel and succeed with
ease.

The enormous power of past success is that it can and will
catapult you toward greater success in the future. Use everything
in your power right now to create some initial success and then
roll that success forward to create more success in your life.
You will ultimately discover this is a very easy thing to do.

Fast-Track Your Journey to Home Business Success

Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-20160

No one has ever logged onto the Internet for the first time and
started pocketing dollars in a really short period of time. As
with all things in life, there is a learning curve.

SOME PERSONAL HISTORY

Just a few short years ago, I was a working stiff just like you.

One day, I bought and read a book called "Multiple Streams of
Income" by bestselling author, Robert Allen. Immediately, I
began my journey.

Every night after work and after my wife and children went to
sleep, I would get online and explore different ways of using the
Internet to make money.

In the two years that followed, I spent over $10,000 racking up
credit card debt buying eBooks, membership sites, special
reports, opt-in leads, and joining every "guru" recommended
business opportunity that flew into my email inbox.

I stayed up learning, working, and drinking coffee until 5:00 in
the morning, month after month filled with the hope of making
money online.

In my third year of working part-time to build a home based
income, I finally broke through and earned over $100,000 in just
twelve months from the Internet.

BECOME THE MASTER OF YOUR LEARNING CURVE

Research the lives of all of the "gurus." The one thing that
you will learn is that my own experience is not unique. Most of
the high earners on the Internet experienced a learning curve
very similar to my own.

Chances are that your curve will also be similar to mine, but it
is my hope that you can get to the top faster than even I did.
Three years was a long time to struggle, but every ounce of
struggle was worth the reward I have finally received.

In order to shorten your own learning curve, you must do a few
things differently than the rest of us did. You must become the
master of your learning curve.

THE SHORTEST DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO POINTS IS A STRAIGHT LINE

There is only one way to shorten the curve on the Internet:

You must plan to succeed!

Here is the deal. Most people put up a freebie website and select
a few affiliate programs to add to their website. Right out of
the gate, most people are running for the finish line without any
real plan in mind.

After a few short weeks, people begin to see the writing on the
wall that says, "This is going to be a long hard road."

People check their hit counters daily for six weeks before they
realize that getting traffic to their free site is going to be
tough.

At this point, they begin developing their first batch of
advertising. Then they spend countless months finding places to
show their advertisements for free. Some make an even more
drastic mistake by blowing thousands of hard earned dollars on
their new and untested ads.

These are the people who will learn the facts of life the hard
way.

In time, they will learn how to make their advertising work for
them, but most will earn very little money from their affiliate
programs.

At this point in the learning curve, most people throw up their
hands and walk away from their dreams in utter disgust. Instead
of a walking away point, this should have convinced the
struggling online entrepreneur that they were simply traveling
the wrong road.

YOU MUST PLAN TO SUCCEED

From day one, you must begin to learn about the nuances of web
promotion. Read everything you can get your hands on. Don't just
read the hype, back it up with the opinions of others who have
reviewed the same programs before you came along. Learn from
their mistakes and successes.

As you begin to learn, you must also look to make a decision. Do
you want to step into a pre-built program that is designed to
help you to succeed, OR do you want to create a completely new
program of which you are the sole owner?

If you decide to step into a pre-designed and complete turn-key
online money-making venture, then you must select the right
venture to step into. If this is your decision, I encourage you
to check out the Plug In Profit Site at:
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-20160

If you decide to go the journey on your own, then do all of the
necessary research, planning and preparation that is needed for
your success.

PREPARE TO SUCCEED

Decide what you think you would want to do, and then figure out
how your planned site will generate a real income.

Internet old-timers know about hundreds of corporation domains
that existed with IPO millions, but did not have an actual money
plan that could sustain their business model. Most of these
companies were among the hundreds of companies that bellied up in
the 2000 dot bomb experience.

Don't blindly believe in your plan. Research others on the web
who have undertaken similar business models and see if they have
survived. Study your competitors in depth to learn what is
working for them and what did not work for them. To better
understand what has or has not worked for competitor websites,
check out their time lapsed progressions using the Wayback
Machine: http://web.archive.org

Once you have determined your money plan, then you should
undertake the development of a business plan and a marketing
plan. Utilize professional assistance if you need to do so. While
creating your plans, make a determination as to which domain name
you think would be best, then register it along with a hosting
account. You can do this at Host4Profit in Step 2 on this page:
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-20160

Once you have developed your business plan and marketing plan and
have run them through several revisions, then it will be time to
buy your domain name and to begin work with a site designer and
developer. You may need to have your domain sitting on a web host
for your site developer, but this is not always necessary. While
they are doing their work, enlist a copywriter to help you with
your site sales copy.

When your site designer and developer have your site working, you
should then undertake significant testing to make sure everything
works as planned. It is much harder to fix problems on a
operational site than it is to fix problems on a site that has
yet to be launched.

When testing is done, then you should fill in your sales copy and
then shoot for launch. Of course, you already have a marketing
plan in place, so your preparation here will be simply a matter
of putting the pieces of the puzzle into place.

You are finally ready to open for business. Don't be afraid to
spend the money to bring your dream alive. Time can replace money
in the goal of starting a profitable online business, but money
invested can shave years off of your company's growth.

How to Win the Advertising and Promotion Game

Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-20160

I am certain that, as a business owner, you have often
entertained the question as to how much to spend and where to
spend your advertising dollars. For most small business owners,
these questions can add to the headaches suffered in the course
of normal everyday operations of their business.

THERE ARE NO SIMPLE ANSWERS

The how much to spend and where to spend it questions have no
easy answers.

Depending on your type of business, many people suggest that the
*how much* should be equal to anywhere from 4% to 10% of your
gross receipts.

The quandary is that a business cannot survive without a fresh
flow of incoming customers. But, a business can seldom generate
a fresh stream of customers without spending money to get the
word out about their business.

THE CHALLENGE OF DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE ADVERTISING

Have you ever paid for advertising and sat back to await the
fresh flow of customers, only to find yourself sitting and
sitting and then sitting some more?

Don't feel bad about that. It has happened to many of us before.

See, knowing where to spend the advertising money is not enough
to get the job done.

Where to spend the money only begins to highlight the other
issues connected with advertising:

· Marketing Plan
· Advertising Strategy
· Headlines, Ad Copy and Visual Presentation
· Tracking the Success of Your Advertising Campaigns

THE MARKETING PLAN

The Marketing Plan is used primarily to identify your own
products and services, costs, strengths, weaknesses and the
strengths and weaknesses of your competitors.

ADVERTISING STRATEGY

It is important to understand what you expect to gain from your
advertising.

Do you simply wish to get your name known so that when your
customer will need you, they will think of you first? Or, do you
wish to get your customers in your front door on Saturday?

Do you want your customers to come in and take a look around to
discover the next object that they cannot live without? Or, do
you want them to come in and buy a specific widget?

Do you hope that enough people will come in to buy enough
products or services to pay for your single ad? Or, do you
expect to gain a lifelong customer who will help pay for your
advertising over the course of several years?

When you know what you want, then you will better understand
just how to do it.

HEADLINES, AD COPY AND VISUAL PRESENTATION

You might be surprised how many business owners put out
advertising without regard for the quality of the sales pitch or
presentation. The quality of your distribution outlet or the
amount of money you spent to get there will do little for you if
the advertising vehicle is a junker.

Test all of your advertising materials in smaller markets before
blowing your advertising bank roll on it. You must absolutely
know the value of your advertising before putting large sums of
money behind it.

TRACKING THE SUCCESS OF YOUR ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS

Tell your customers to save another 10% when they tell you they
heard or saw your ad in such-and-such location. Suggest that
they can register to win a free widget if they fill out a form
and have them to tell you how they heard of your business.
Advertise a specific widget in your ad and track the sales of
that widget.

It does not matter how you track your advertising --- just make
sure you do it!

IN SUMMARY

The ideal way to spend your advertising budget is to buy a rifle
with a high-powered scope and to only shoot your targets in the
light of day.

If you are not tracking your advertising, then you are shooting
a pellet gun without an attached scope, with blinders on, and
shooting in the dead darkness of night.

Even with a bigger gun, the blinders in the dark constitute the
single largest mistake made by advertisers. If you are unable to
track your advertising to learn what is working well, what is
working somewhat, and what is a money pit, then you are
condemned to repeat your mistakes over and again.

By relying only on gut instinct, you may be choosing to spend
more money in the money pit and to lose all of your money in the
process.

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of making money from
your advertising, you should plan, prepare, track and study your
results. You must have factual information on which to base your
advertising decisions. When you are making the right advertising
decisions, then making money from your business might just come
easy.

Internet Promotion Techniques 101

Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-20160

Did you realize there are only three types of online
promotion?... This statement may seem odd and even untrue in
your mind, but I am speaking in more general terms than you
might be thinking.

Let me explain.

The three types of promotion are Junk, Active and Passive
promotions.

JUNK PROMOTIONS ARE MONEY PITS

Junk promotions are those that seem to produce results, but by
their very nature are really only illusionary promotions.

For example, let me begin with FFA (Free For All) pages. You
might find yourself subscribing to a submission program that
tricks you into believing you are submitting your links to tens
of thousands search engines.

According to the Open Directory website, they have only approved
1705 search engines and directories for inclusion in their
database (http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/).

I like using the DMOZ directory as an example because submitted
links are tested by human beings with integrity, for the honesty
used in site description. Search Engine Watch and other search
watchers tend to show fewer than these 1705 engines, primarily
because a lot of the engines provide very little value.

Yes, you can submit your URL to a FFA page, but FFA's usually
only permit 100 or 1000 links on their page at any one time. So,
if ten thousand people are submitting a link to an FFA page on a
daily basis, then the average life of your link is between seven
minutes and 144 minutes. I suspect the actual number of
submitters is much higher and the results are much worse. Given
that few people surf FFA pages, the chances of your submission
being of any real value is practically nill!

Most of the people telling you that you can submit your site to
tens of thousands of search engines are truly only submitting
your site to FFA pages! Beware of the false promises.

Another junk promotion method is Safe Lists. A safe list is a
mailing group that is signed up to be received by people who
want to submit their own ads. Now, most safe lists have
thousands of subscribers who are able to submit their ads daily
or weekly. The person signed up to receive the list will receive
anywhere from twenty to 140+ messages a day from the list. These
messages will be received by people only interested in promoting
their own thing who do not have the right motivation to open,
let alone read Your Advertising. As a result, thousands of
messages go out daily or weekly that will never be seen by
anyone but the sender of the ad. Where is the value in that?
There is none.

ACTIVE PROMOTIONS

Active promotions are the type that require you to go out on a
daily basis or a weekly basis and put out your advertisements.
With active promotions, you will either place your advertising
or you will not sell your products or services. Your choice is
simple --- work or starve.

Examples of active promotions include Pay Per Click Search
Engines (PPCSE's), Direct Email, Ezine Advertising, Solo Ezine
Ads, Newsletter Publishing, Ezine Ad Swaps, Classified Ads,
Auctions, Site Sponsorship and Banner Ads.

Some people are able to utilize these methods very productively,
while others are destined to drop their money into the
bottomless pit of failed Internet promotions.

PASSIVE PROMOTIONS

Passive promotions are those promotions that can continue to
provide results for you long after you have invested the work to
make them available to the Internet community.

Examples of passive promotions include: Link Exchanges,
Articles, Ebooks, Content Exchanges and Writing Testimonials for
others.

Let's look at articles as a solid example of my point.

You are reading an article that I have written to promote my own
business. This article is timeless and therefore could have been
written five years ago and still have been as valuable as it is
today.

Due to the fact that the article is timeless, it can and will be
placed in newsletters/ezines and their accompanying online
archives, on websites and in ebooks for many more years to come.

As a result, this article will continue to serve me well beyond
the time in which I wrote it and submitted it to publishers and
webmasters for public consumption and publication.

This is the best example I can give you of an excellent passive
promotional method.

AVOID THE MONEY PITS

Many try and even fewer succeed to conquer the Internet and to
produce their dreams of online wealth.

My hope is that you will be one of the people who conquer the
challenges before you and to make a nice living while working
online. It will take drive, determination, study plus trial and
error, but you can make it work for you.

Please continue to educate yourself so that you can avoid the
money pits - instead, strive to find the money barrels. It can
be done. I am living proof.

Is Web 2.0 Marketing Ethical?

Everybody who knows anything about computers and the internet is talking about web 2.0. If you lust after getting tons of traffic directed to your site, then perhaps sites like MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and many others are exactly what you are looking for.

I logged into MySpace once and noticed how many comments that were left there were just spam, plan and simple they weren’t interested in my article they were just spamming. So is this new technology just a way people can leave spam in your comments? Of course you can stop people spamming by turning off the facility to leave comments, however this means nobody can leave a message. People like an interactive web, and so would miss this lack of functionality,

Everybody seems to think that these sort of sites are new, but in actual fact Yahoo has had My Yahoo for the best part of 10 years now! And so has AOL, so this isn’t really new technology it’s just repackaged.

Ok perhaps these others were not really web 2.0, but surely they were better than web 1.0? So i think it should be called at least web 1.5! The navigation in these web 2.0 sites can be somewhat confusing, I cannot get my head around squidoo at all, MySpace is a little intuitive, but that’s it.

MySpace and all of the other social networking sites were set up to build friendships, so they don’t really condone using their sites for promoting your business activities. There were two programs on the internet that helped you use MySpace to market your online site, however both of these have been closed down by MySpace, perhaps this shows just how un-impressed MySpace are with the idea of promotion!

A few years back blogging was the hot topic, everyone said that to become somebody we had to write a blog, although blogging is still important it has changed. Blogs are now not quite as popular as they were in their infancy. They are still pretty important because they allow immediate contact with your customer base, plus they are able to leave their comments.

People don’t just want to see a static page that never changes, they want a dynamic, flexible and interactive site. The modern web is all about giving your visitors the opportunity to interact, add comments, pictures and videos.

Experts predict that videos on websites are the next big thing, everybody is adding videos to their websites, even Google and Microsoft.

I’ve owned a site for the last ten years, the maximum number of visitors I’ve ever achieved in a month was around 3000. MySpace profiles reach over 40,000 visitors a month, and what’s more they’re all unique! MySpace and the other social networking sites are defiantly a great asset to promoting your online site.

The problem is that the internet is changing so fast, as soon as you learn these new skills there could well be a need to learn new skills again!

Children in the Home Business Environment

Today's feature article is:

Children in the Home Business Environment
Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-20160

Operating a home business is seldom easy and interruptions come
in all shapes, sizes and forms.

Between the family, friends and neighbors who call or come by,
and the telemarketers who insist on ringing your number off the
hook, getting through the workday can be a real challenge.

When you introduce children into the home office environment,
your productivity and patience can be seriously tested.

For example, right now my three-year old daughter is pulling on
my shirt and begging me to read her a story. Clearly, Im in the
middle of something important here, but how can I say no to
those eyes? Ill be right back...

Ok, that wasnt so bad was it? Shes happy, Im happy (having
bonded with my daughter) and now Im back to continue my
conversation with you :-) Whats the lesson here? Flexibility
is a major key to balancing your home business priorities with
your familys needs.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that maintaining a
deep level of concentration on work in a home business for long
periods of time is next to impossible. Naptime does offer some
reprieve, but any break from the kids is usually short lived.

Even with older children, summertime introduces new challenges
with kids running in and out of the house all throughout the day.

I would like to share with you some of the tips I have
discovered to help manage your home office with children in your
midst. Since children of different ages pose different
challenges, I will present my tips in terms of age groups.

OLDER CHILDREN AND TEENS

We will look at older children first since they pose the least
challenge to our work productivity.

Children, who are old enough to understand the idea of schedules
and chores, are old enough to understand the needs of your home
business. Explain to your children that you do your work at home
so that you can be near them when they need you. But also be
sure they understand that you must do your work so that you will
have the money necessary to keep your house, feed the family and
to provide them with money for entertainment.

Once your children understand the necessity of your work, then
outline a work schedule and explain it to them. Do make sure
they understand that emergencies are definitely an acceptable
reason to interrupt your work. Then make sure they understand
that between hours x and y, you will be doing work --- and then
hold them to respecting your schedule.

INFANTS

Infants will never understand your needs for work. But
fortunately, babies do well under a schedule or routine. Instead
of expecting your child to work around your schedule, schedule
your work around the needs of your baby.

It is simple. Babies eat, sleep and poop. Sometimes they play.
Fortunately, babies sleep more than they do anything else.

Naptime offers the best advantage for getting your work done.
Get your baby into a routine of eat, sleep and play, and you
will experience unexpected levels of productivity.

TODDLERS

If you have a toddler running around the house while you are
operating your home business, then you may find that your hair
turning gray or disappearing altogether. But, gray hair is a
sign of character, right. ;-)

I am venturing to guess that the person who devised the door
lock for the inside of the house did so because he had toddlers
in his own home. Inside door locks should only be utilized when
you are making that important phone call and your toddler is
screaming for your attention. At all other times, your door
should remain unlocked with your door open.

Develop a routine with your children for meal times, naptimes,
and play times. Work these times into your work schedule and
adhere to them. If you fail to keep appointments with your
children, your children will have less respect for your work and
do more to prevent you from the completion of your work.

Don`t be afraid to let your children sit in your lap while you
are working. It helps them to feel wanted and it helps them to
be a part of your daily life. There are times when it is okay
for them to be sitting in your lap while you work, and at other
times you need them out of your lap. Don`t be afraid to tell
them to get down and go play or read a book so that you can
resume your work.

Permit your children to have their toys in your office. Often
they will sit contently and play while you work. Just knowing
you are near is enough to keep them happy.

Be prepared to take an hourly break to deal with your toddler.
Try to do potty breaks at your hourly break and to do drink
refills. This can help your child grow into a routine that will
work well with your home business. At each break, spend a few
minutes with your child giving hugs and kisses and talking with
your child about what he or she wants to talk about.

Toddlers don`t always do well with the routine, so be prepared
to take a few minutes when needed to give the attention that
your child so desperately needs in the moment.

IN CONCLUSION

I hope these tips serve to help you in the challenge of
operating a successful home business.

My home business permits me to fulfill my financial obligations
*AND* see my children grow up. I would never contemplate trading
my home business for another kind of business. Even with the
added challenges of dealing with toddlers in my home office, the
upsides far outweigh the downsides.

Growing my own home business with children around has definitely
given me a new respect for all people who successfully run a
home business with kids in the work environment. I tip my hat to
you... You deserve it!

Web 2.0 For Advertising?

People responsible for marketing products should realize that there’s nothing more important than the internet. Print is no longer as important as it once was. There are many opportunities to advertise your products and services on the internet, plus they are much cheaper and more effective. Also most of these advertising methods make tracking their success easy.

I receive quite a few trade magazines that are mailed to me every month, these normally go straight into the trash. Why? Just because I don’t have the time to read them, and also all of the prices and information are changing so fast that by the time I’ve read it it’s already out of date. I therefore ignore virtually all forms of printed advertising, not only are direct mail shots annoying, they’re also pretty useless. Few people are even using the phone book because it’s all available online, why would you want to flick through a phone book and risk getting a paper cut when you can find much more information on the internet.

Many marketers think that it’s really scary that print advertising is dying, but this is simply because print is all they know. With print the results are hard to see, but with the internet you can see exactly how many people click on a link. Internet campaigns are very easy to track. This scares many marketers because they will now be responsible for the results they get, and they are perfectly aware of this.

This doesn’t mean to say that publications that are printed will disappear, but I expect print advertising will take a back seat. Nobody takes notice of print advertising, especially when they are all at the back of a magazine. TV adverts are also a thing of the past, DVR’s can automatically cut the advertisements from shows, so nobody sees them. And even if they do, most people will get up during the commercial break. Users are finding ways to rid their entertainment of advertising.

Web 2.0 has changed a lot of things, most people are interested in the changes made to online advertising. Businesses understand that advertising on the internet is very worthwhile and so spend a lot of money on doing just this.

Banner advertisements used to be popular forms of advertising, however now the money is being spent on content creation. This content is fed into blogs, case studies, seminars, press releases, and email blasts. People realize that web 2.0 is focused more on getting the word out rather than giving people the hard sell.

Web 2.0 is interested in slowly holding somebody’s hand and guiding them through to make a sale rather than forcing them to click a link. Many of the clever marketers are utilizing the social networking tools to spread the word about their products, whether you use MySpace, or many of the others you can get great results. Plus most of these tools are completely free!

You should be willing to accept all of the new techniques of advertising including blogs, video blogs, email, and also RSS feeds. Do not forget about some tried and true techniques such as article marketing. It may be a little slow but it is very effective. If you would like to know more about article marketing e-mail me at mrpaulpoole@gmail.com.

Another part of the internet I love is affiliate marketing. You simply go find a great company that you are comfortable with and sign up as an affiliate. Almost all companies on the internet use affiliates to sell their products or services. I market 6 affiliate companies through my website called The Fat Wallet Online Affiliate Marketing Guide. If you would like to take a look just mouse on over here and be sure to: Answer The Question Please

Another thing that I like is blogging. Simple posts, letters, press releases, stories and anything else you can come up with are great to add to your blog. Its even better when other people come to your blog and add their comments. You can actually spread your blog all over the internet if enough people are posting on your blog. That said please, I beg of you! Go to my blog and add a comment. Here it is:
The Fat Wallet: Web 2.0 For Advertising?

Even if it takes begging I'm willing. I need traffic......

Enjoy!

One last thing.

Since you were good enough to read to the end I'm going to give you an excellent e-book. Its called DotComology The Science Of Internet Marketing. Just click the link that says Important Information Free. There is a lot of information in this book. I'd read it all if I were you. It just might keep you from making a costly mistake. Here it is:
Important Information Free

Thanks again!!!
