Know What A Wiki Timer Is?

Wiki Timer? What the hell is that? Read on to get a hint...

The internet is changing so rapidly it’s changing how everyone operates. Not that long ago digital calendars and diaries were just that, copies of conventional diaries and calendars. This made them very confusing to use and actually led to few people using them. Nothing seemed a worthwhile replacement for a physical reminder system like post it notes!

Thanks to new inventions in the technology that makes web 2.0 possible there may be many different solutions. The internet is now a really exciting place to be.

There are many different tools available for planning and scheduling our lives, however most people waste around 30% of their time on things like scheduling appointments. If you have a receptionist like mine then you will no doubt spend much longer than this, because every time I ask her to do something she throws it straight back at me! Maybe I need a new receptionist.

Without email and cell phones it would be impossible to schedule our lives at all. Using your computer you can look when you are free, choose a time slot, send out email invitations, and then phone up whoever hasn’t replied. One of the hardest parts about organizing a meeting is trying to find a time slot which is suitable for everyone.

There are many online services like Yahoo calendar, Google calendar, and many others all of which can help you to do this horrible task. Everyone is able to check this schedule without you having to remind people by email. There are even some calendars that allow multiple people to edit them.

If you’re a business then why not consider using these online tools to your advantage? Not only can you use them yourself, but there are a number of companies on the internet offering an unbranded system that you could use with your system brand. If you get hits to this then people will no doubt remember your brand name.

So anyway, many of the online calendars and scheduling tools are not fantastic tools. There is however one new tool that seems to be getting things right, Wiki Timer. Wiki Timer focuses on it being difficult to schedule a time that everyone can get to. It’s got a built in problem solver that uses the information you input and actually schedules the appointment for you, Wiki Timer then communicates with the invited people to work out a compromise.

Working out a meeting time can be stressful at the best of times, but Wiki Timer takes all of the stress about this, once the automatic scheduler has scheduled the meeting you will be told. It’s like having your own receptionist, although much better than mine!

This seems to be a step in the right direction for internet applications; the uses for these are endless. If you’re a freelancer then such a tool is very useful for anybody that wants to plan that annoying family reunion. However the problem is that not everybody uses the internet, and so it can’t completely cut out the stress!
